MotovationUSA is building a custom Yamaha FZ-09

With all the buzz and the great reviews Cycle World magazine writers and reviewers were giving the FZ-09, we had to pick one up!  Without any delay....a Rapid Red Yamaha FZ-09 was in our garage!

Our first reaction to the stock bike was that it rides great, is relaxed and comfortable, and has a surprising bit of power right in the "fun" part of the throttle.  A bit of a low seat and the front end is a bit nervous when pushed hard, but loads of fun regardless.

The best part about this FZ-09/MT-09 is that it offers such a unique platform for customization.  Not to mention that at the price you can buy one for....you have plenty left over for mods and upgrades!

We are starting this build the same way we start all of our custom project bike builds.  We park the bike right in the middle of our shop so that all of us can stare at the bike while we work.  Its amazing how you can really learn every single angle of a motorcycle when you stare at it all day for a week!

Rizoma offers the best assortment of parts for the FZ-09, so its a no brainer to deck this bike out with everything they make!  The hardest decision is going to be the "look" we attempt to create with this bike.  We were excited to hear that the guys in Italy at SC-Project are sending us a prototype exhaust to try out on the bike.  The sound of the Yamaha triple cylinder powerplant, with some Italian exhaust notes, should be just what the doctor ordered!
